BUILD IT YOURSELF
I have built many power supplies in the past. All of these power supplies used a
transformer to connect the mains power to the rectifier and regulator circuits. In all
cases, a linear regulator was used to provide the final output voltage. Adding
adjustable current limiting was too difficult. The input voltage to the regulator
dropped at full load because of the output resistance of the transformer.
